HP Ink Cartridges
HP Printer Series
The story of Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard becoming friends at Stanford University in the 1930s, and then starting a two person company in the Packard garage in Palo Alto is well known. The garage had a concrete floor and measures 12 x 18 feet, and is often credited as the birthplace of silicon valley. You can still drive by the garage and see the origins of Hewlett Packard.
Starting with audio oscillators, HP is now obviously one of the world’s largest electronics corporations, having led the field for scientific calculators in the last part of the 20th century.
Life could have been very different - Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, originally designed the Apple I computer while working at HP and offered it to them under their right of first refusal to his work, but they did not take it up as the company wanted to stay in scientific, business, and industrial markets. Wozniak said that HP "turned him down 5 times" and that loyalty to HP made him hesitant to start Apple with Steve Jobs. They did however buy Compaq in 2002 ….
For many years HP have been the market leaders in office and home inkjet printers, reaching a 40% share of the market. The range started with the ThinkJet (a witty mixture of Thermal and Inkjet) and their first LaserJet in 1984. The PhotoSmart series dates from 1997 and allow giant corporations as well as the home user to print high quality photo images on affordable printers with modern cartridge and print head technology. Compatibles and remanufactured cartridges are available for nearly all HP printers, and despite the best efforts of Hewlett Packard to prevent their usage, they represent very good value for money for everyday ink jet printers.
